Standards in Year 6

This course is for teachers in Year 6 and will focus on the standards expected at the end of Year 6 in Writing and mathematics, reading and science.  

The expected standards at the end of KS2 writing will be explored within the context of a broad, rich curriculum. We will also cover the statutory assessment arrangements for the end of KS2 and look at the requirements for both testing and teacher assessment of writing and science using the Teacher Assessment Frameworks.  

There will be an opportunity to network with other Year 6 teachers from across the LA. 

Participants will: 

• Have a clear understanding of expectations in writing at the end of key stage 2
• Know the expectations of the statutory assessment arrangements, including testing at the end of KS2
• Know how to teach to the expected standards within a broad, rich curriculum
