Please note Workshop 1 is for Primary only. Workshops 2 and 3 are for both Primary and Secondary, and Secondary delegates are invited to join from 11am.

 

Workshop 1 - 9.30-11am

How to use the TALC (Test of Abstract Language Comprehension)   assessment in school to screen for language difficulties. 

This session will also explain what Blank level of questions are and how this can help differentiate the language of the classroom for children with SLCN. Please bring your school’s TALC if possible.

Target audience: Universal (primary)

Workshop 2 - 11.30am-1pm

Positive techniques – de-escalation training - “train the trainer”

Training aimed at senior staff in primary and secondary schools who can deliver this popular training to staff back in school. This training explores how school staff can de-escalate behaviour, focussing on verbal and non-verbal communication.

Target audience: Universal

Trainer: Denise Dyer, Strategic Manager, and Rachel Cooper, Specialist Behaviour Support Teacher, Virtual Behaviour Service

 

Workshop 3 - 1.30-3pm

Quality first Teaching for SEMH – 10 things you can do in your classroom – train the trainer.

Training aimed at senior staff in primary and secondary schools who can deliver this training to staff back in school. Practical steps you can take to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH needs to improve inclusion and engagement.
