Detail:

There will be opportunities for subject leaders to share their good practice from their own schools. Participants will be updated on national and local guidance, including projects and CPD offered by the London South West MathsHub and information about new initiatives in the teaching and learning and assessment of mathematics. 

 

The meetings will cover the following:

  • Subject Leadership development: Subject Leaders will be supported in developing their skills as middle leaders to further advance the impact of mathematics provision in their schools.
  • Teaching and learning: A focus on an area of the mathematics curriculum, the content and ways to teach it using mastery approaches
  • Assessment: Assessment strategies, both for in-school formative assessment and updates on statutory end of key stage assessment

 

Outcomes:

  • Participants are familiar with national and local guidance and initiatives on the teaching, learning and assessment of mathematics
  • Have ideas for the teaching of a variety of areas of mathematics using mastery approaches to take back to school
  • A better understanding of assessment strategies, moderation, formative and summative assessment and statutory assessment at the end of key stages
