Detail:

This dynamic course, "Literacy Through Discovery- Linking Literacy to the World Around us," empowers educators to ignite a lifelong love of literacy in children aged 3-5 through the power of discovery learning. Moving beyond traditional phonics, the program emphasises an integrated approach where literacy skills naturally emerge from child-led exploration and hands-on experiences that are linked to your existing thematic teaching and learning. The recently published ‘Writing Framework’ for the Department for Education outlines the need to focus on basics and not push children to do things their phonic knowledge may not match. The time spent at this course will allow you to plan for a wide range of literacy strategies linked to thematic teaching setting a firm foundation for literacy, understanding the world and expressive art and design, that is grounded in oracy.
