All schools in Merton have had an ongoing focus on writing, aiming to raise outcomes in writing in every year group.
EYFS is the starting point in schools to build the foundational knowledge and skills children need to succeed as writers.
This non-statutory moderation session is an opportunity for reception practitioners to bring a range of writing to share with like minded people, working together to reach consensus on early learning goal writing samples shared by schools. We will work to achieve clarity on writing that is on the cusp of achieving early learning goal and as a group, consider intervention opportunities to support achievement of the goal.
We will also explore potential opportunities to develop independent application of phonics in Merton learning environments with contributions from schools.
We request every delegate brings a range of writing samples to share and this can include those you consider below, cusp and at age related expectations as defined by the goal for writing.
